POETRY IN VOICE

YA ALLAH

By Nadia Irshād

New Paragraph

Oh how I miss you Allah

Beyond and before all this

Arm and arm with my regiment

Who are far away from me now

We are all scattered throughout time and space

And when we meet our hearts embrace

In longing

Sometimes we don’t even speak

our hearts resonate

and we recognize one another

from that time

before the separation from your warm embrace

I feel it

that moment

when we felt it

knew it

could never look away

We have entered into the presence of The King

It’s been seven years

Under seven skies

Among seven earths

In the same body of mine

Upon every one is a you and a me

And with time

Seven years have passed

I’m anew, fresh dew

My hands are wide open

Palms face up to the sky

To catch rain petals

Petals made out of drips that drop

Rain drops fill me up

Jump into the open cavern of my heart

Where seeds were planted long ago

now vines, rose bushes and trees grow

spring will bring full blooms

Rays that turn into fruit and flowers

I await that moment still

We have entered into the presence of The King

I came across an old man

it was foggy and I could barely see him

I just knew I knew him

and he knew too

and his eyes smiled

and my eyes joined his

and for that split second I travelled

and we were there together

arm and arm in lines

We have entered into the presence of The King

We jump time and arrive

again and again

at births and deaths

at joyous times and when we weep under the covers at night

There is a sweetness

We have entered into the presence of The King

what is a lover, an embrace

what do kisses and caresses have anything to do with this

it is all nothing

nothingness

nothing close to what I most miss

Take me at my best Ya Allah

Enter me into the presence of The King
